    Roblox - what is it?

This is such a mixture of Minecraft and Garry's Mod only for very young children and with an "infinite" number of modes. Unlike Minecraft, where no servers are free to build everything, in Roblox servers are divided by topic.

Construction here plays a secondary role: the editor’s capabilities are enough to assemble a role-playing game with quests, a Pokémon catching simulator, starship racing or a horror game about a house with ghosts. The graphics are simple and reminiscent of the games of the early 00s, but instead of pixel cubes from Minecraft, here are normal three-dimensional models.

The most important thing is that the game is free and exists on all relevant platforms, from mobile phones to consoles and PCs. The level editor is easy to learn: the developer does not need to know programming languages to assemble his first game.

Everything is limited only by imagination, and the creators of the games receive money: in 2017, Roblox Corporation announced that it paid more than $ 30 million to almost two million authors. Some of them spent money on their lives, and some could cover their studies at prestigious American colleges.

    Where did Roblox come from?

The first prototype game was introduced back in 2004. In 2007, a safe chat for children was added, and in August the Builders Club and a premium subscription appeared. So the financial base was prepared: additional levels in Roblox can only be built by subscription and it costs about $ 60 per year.

Everything that is in the game is built and bought for "Robux" - the internal currency. Since 2013, it has become possible to withdraw this currency, which allowed the authors to earn real money. Since then, Roblox has been actively developing, attracting more and more users every year.

I will be glad to new readers - share this article with friends on social networks!

    Why is Roblox so popular?

Bloggers are actively talking about the game. As in Minecraft, the main audience of Roblox are children from 4 to 12 years old. A huge share of the popularity of Roblox was brought by streams and let’s plays with Twitch and YouTube.

It is free and works with any phones. The basic concept for easy access to the game by its main audience is accessibility. Roblox can be installed on Google Play or the App Store absolutely free, and undemanding graphics will work even on the simplest smartphones and tablets. Not to mention the PC and consoles.

There are donations and payments to the authors. Roblox introduced the free-2-play system, creating a virtual currency inside its platform and tying all the content to it. As a result, children are actively buying access to VIP-levels, and the creators are motivated to make new games.

    Total

Roblox Corporation created a successful mix of MMOs and the sandbox, turning it into a social network designer based on outdated technologies. They do not just play here but communicate and join in groups. Moreover - there exists a huge community that recreates the real world with global politics, ministerial councils, intrigues, revolutions, and wars.

But for the most part - this is entertainment for children with very low-quality content. Roblox does not have an “outgrowth” editor - having mastered all the tools, you won’t be able to create something more complicated there than the runner with the Lego men.

This is the problem: experienced gamers have nothing to do here, and the creators of the service will continue to expand the children's audience, using their desire for endless creativity and self-expression.

And, unlike Minecraft, where you need to pay once, Roblox will have to pay constantly. It doesn’t matter whether virtual money or not - all the content in the game is a huge toy store. Good or not, the question is complex.
